Relo✈fession

…relocating professionals

About Us

We started Relofession because one of us suffered from the same late disappointments that many qualified Nigerian professionals face every year.

The lateness were more disappointing than the disappointments.

Our story

A year after earning his Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certificate in 2022, Sam Onuegbu came across the UK path to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) using TRCN.

He started, only to find out (late into the process) that his NCE wasn’t acceptable.

Switching to B.Ed, he discovered (only later) that his degree subject didn’t fall within the UK direct-QTS approved list.

Not giving up…

He changed plans and obtained a TEFL for teaching opportunities in Asia and the Middle East.

But never knew (early enough) that even professional relocation still requires the kind of funds he had not saved up.

Well, let’s just say it was too late for him to start saving.

So, Sam partnered with Michael Willie (a friend who also shares the same passion for better opportunities abroad) to build Relofession.

A centre for timely updates on the greener pastures abroad for Nigerian professionals and an upfront guide to accessing them.

What we do

Relofession publishes well-researched guides for Nigerian professionals seeking relocation opportunities abroad.

Starting with teachers relocating to the UK, we plan to expand to other professions and countries too.

And our focus is on professionals who have, or are working towards the qualifications and funds to relocate.

We help you confirm if that move is realistic with your credentials, the visa requirements and cost of the process from application to arrival.

Michael Willie is co-founder of Relofession and covers pre-relocation planning for Nigerian professionals, including visas, certifications and eligibility.

He also co-runs EXAM MAJOR, helping professionals earn the licenses that make relocation possible in the first place.

His research draws from official immigration and licensing bodies, cross-referenced with firsthand accounts from professionals who have gone through the same process.

How we research

Because relocation decisions involve real consequences if the information is wrong, we hold ourselves to a clear process:

  • We source directly from official bodies (GOV.UK, TRCN, UK ENIC, DfE, NMC, and equivalent bodies for other destination countries).
  • Every sensitive article (visa costs, salary thresholds, processing times) carries a “last verified” date because these figures change often.
  • We work towards having legal and financial contents reviewed by relevant qualified professionals, crediting that review on the article.
  • We tell you when something is our interpretation or experience rather than official guidance.

Read our full Editorial Process for the details.

What Relofession is not

We are an independent information resource, not a law firm, immigration advisory service or financial advisory service.

We are not affiliated with UK Visas and Immigration, the Home Office, TRCN, USCIS, IRCC or any other government or regulatory body referenced on this site.

Nothing on Relofession is legal, immigration or financial advice.

Relocation rules change and individual circumstances vary.

Always confirm current requirements with the official government source for your destination country.

And consult a licensed immigration adviser or solicitor before making binding decisions.

How we’re funded

Relofession will earn revenue through display advertising.

And affiliate programs on some pages that may earn us a commission if you sign up for a product or service through certain links, at no extra cost to you.

This does not influence the accuracy of our research or editorial decisions.

Our fact-checking standard is the same across every page, sponsored or not.
